Ferarites observe Good Friday with devotion and piety

Ferar, Apr 18: Good Friday is the day we commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. On this day, we remember the suffering and death of Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

This day was observed on the 14th of April, 2017 at 3 p.m., with much devotion in St. Francis Xavier Church, Ferar with several ceremonies including the Way of the Cross and a service which began with a silent procession of the celebrants Rev. Fr. Pius Pinto, Rev. Fr. Roshan Rosario and Rev. Fr. Melwyn Sequeira. With deep reverence, they prostrated before the barren alter, symbolising the emptiness of the church.

This was followed by the proclamation of the word of God, unveiling of the Cross symbolising that we are forgiven of our sins and the veneration of the cross during which, all came forward to kiss the feet of Christ on the cross.
