Wilfy's Sentimental Nite takes the audience on a melodious musical journey
Mangalore August 2, 2009: The United youngsters on the occasion of its golden jubilee celebrations presented Wilfy's Sentimental Nite, the first ever sentimental musical show in Konkani, at the TMA Pai Auditorium, Mangalore, today 2nd of August 2009 at 5.30 p.m.
Mr. Leslie Rego escorted all the guests to the dais. Mr. Felix Lobo from Qatar welcomed the gathering and the guests, and introduced them to the audience. All the guests were honoured with floral bouquets. Wilfy and his entire troupe marched with the traditional umbrella to the dais. Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, honoured Mr. Wilfy Rebimbus and his wife Meena Rebimbus with shawl, flowers, fruits, while well-known entrepreneur and social worker Ronald Colaco honoured Wilfy and Meena with a memento.
Mr. Ronald Colaco speaking on this occasion said he was happy to witness this rare occasion organized in honour of Mangalore's legendary singer. "Wilfy has dedicated his entire life to Konkani Music. We need no introduction about him. Every Konkani music lover will have his albums with them," he said adding that Wilfy had created history in Konkani music world. “Music is in his blood and his entire family is dedicated to Konkani music," said Mr Colaco and thanked Wilfy and his entire family for their dedication and contribution to the music world. "In this modern world let Wilfy's family and their love for Konkani music inspire generations to preserve our culture and music", he added.
All the honorary committee members were honoured with memento by the Bishop. The Sentimental Nite Megazine was released on this occasion by Mr. Lawrence Pinto. Mr. Leo Rodrigues released a CD of Wilfy's Sentimental Songs. All the sponsors were honoured with floral bouquets and a memento.








Addressing to the gathering Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius D'Souza, said the Konkani community was blessed to have this great legend whose contributions to its language are tremendous. Dr. D’Souza who was full of praise for Wilfy said "He is a good poet, a writer, a composer and a good singer. Wilfy is multi talented and his meaningful songs have touched the heart of many people who have listened to his songs." Recalling the death of King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Bishop said, had left a vacuum in the music world and would be missed by his fans because he too had dedicated his life to entertain the music lovers. "Wilfy has created his own place in the Konkani music world and his songs were about success, failures, sufferings, emotions and sentiments," he said and wished Wilfy good health and many more accolades in his future endeavours.
Mr. Ronal F.D'Souza presented a memento to Mr. Wilfy Rebimbus. Mr. Felix Lobo presented the memento to the Bishop. The stage programme was ended with the vote of thanks.
Before the musical nite began, Wilfy thanked each and everyone for their support towards this event. He also remembered and thanked the medical fraternity who took care of him when he was admitted to the hospital.
The first song "Sangeeth Kutaam" of the evening was sung by Wilfy, Meena, Arthur, Veena, Vishwas, Charleen, Arvin and Anna which was followed by Vanitha Vandana Shalini by Mr. Rony D'Cunha who was specially flown in from Kuwait to perform. Dolla entertained the crowd with his rib tickling jokes. The Thunder Guys Dance troupe danced to the tune of Ivan Sequiera’s romantic song.
Mrs. Meena Rebimbus sang a sentimental song "Mai Muje Mai". Mrs. Veena Pais sang "Pranam thuka kartha" with her melodious voice. Vishwas Rebimbus sang "Lakhanth Ekle" along with Charleen as the thunder guys troupe accompanied them. The memory group once again took the crowd to the laughing world. Rathan Castelino who was flown in from Dubai sang "Anjelina".
Other hit songs presented on the occasion included "Illo Illo" by Prem and Cluad, "Sang thu mujya" by Munita Veigas, Naman tuka Avaypona by Ivan sequeira, Tujeveen by Charleen and Munita, Mogh mogak ashelo by Stany D'Souza, Jecintha by Rony and Veena, Mogh thujo kithlo ashelo by Prashanth Raj, Philomena by Vishawas Rebimbus, and Adukulya Budkulya by Prem and Clud, accompanied by Thuder guys dance troup.
The programme concluded with Medley which was sung by Wilfy , Meena, Ivan , Rathan Munita, Vishwas, Charleen, Rony, Veena, Aruthur, Pren, Claud and the entire group. Mr. Leslie Rego Compeered the entire programme. The 2000 capacity of TMA Pai Auditorium was jam-packed and many people had to return with disappointment without getting the entry tickets.
